Dr. Fagan obtained his dental degree from the University of Maryland in 1971. In 1975, he completed his training in Periodontics after training at one of the most prestigious graduate programs in the United States: Boston University; School of Graduate Dentistry. Dr. Fagan has had the benefit of 5 years of experience in General Dentistry that included private practice and a two-year tour of service with the United States Army. These experiences give Dr. Fagan a unique perspective into the problems and needs of the patient and the restorative (general) dentist. He has over 40 years experience in private specialty practice, highlighting his expertise in Periodontics and Implant Dentistry, with a great emphasis on aesthetics. Dr. Fagan began placing dental implants in 1986. With the placement of well over 300 dental implants a year, patients instinctively know they are working with a very experienced practitioner with the refined skills to deliver the highest level of care.

Washingtonian Magazine has rated Dr. Fagan one of the best periodontal practitioner for 8 consecutive years. He has also been elected by his patients and peers as one of the best periodontists in America.

Dr. Fagan strongly believes in a conservative approach to surgery with the major goal being saving viable teeth. He is motivated by the challenges inherent in the specialty of Periodontics. Patient’s continually remark how his comprehensive care, exceptional clinical skills and attention to the smallest detail, results in their increased self-esteem and positive self image. Dr. Fagan married his teenage sweetheart and life partner, Bonnie and has enjoyed their 43 plus years of traveling through life together. He is the father of two wonderful children, Marc and Erin. Marc, now grown, is working hard and is enjoying his job with Comcast Sports Network in Bethesda, MD, and loves his new status as “daddy” with Ryder, born in 2010. Dr. Fagan’s daughter Erin has two beautiful children, Noah and Max. Naturally, Dr. Fagan and Bonnie are basking in the joys of grandparenthood. In addition to being a true family man, Dr. Fagan also enjoys hiking in faraway lands, adventure, travel, photography, history, tennis, reading, reading and more reading.
